Shaping
a smoother, flatter stomach
You
long for tight abs and a washboard stomach. But no matter how many
sit-ups you do, no matter how carefully you watch your diet, it
never seems to get as flat as you want it to. The circumstances
may be beyond your control. Weak muscles, weight changes, pregnancy,
and even the simple fact of genetics can cause your stomach to protrude.
If the skin and muscles have been stretched, diet and exercise may
not be able to help you achieve the look you desire.

"Having
children took its toll on my figure. Even though I lost the weight
after having children, I just didn't get my shape back. After my
tummy tuck, I feel like myself again." -M.S.
Drs. Basner & Rosenberg can reshape your abdominals by tightening the muscles
and removing excess tissue and skin through abdominoplasty. This
procedure is not a substitute for weight loss, but can reshape a
flatter, smoother stomach that has been unresponsive to diet or
exercise.
Below
are some frequently asked questions. These are designed only to
provide you with general information regarding this procedure. We
will provide you with extensive information during your complimentary
consultation. Any further questions or concerns may also be
addressed at that time.
What
will my recovery be like?
You can expect to feel some discomfort or pain following your procedure,
which can be relieved with medication. After one week, sutures and
bandages will be removed. You may need to wear a support garment
for several weeks thereafter.
You should
avoid strenuous activities such as heavy lifting and vigorous exercise
for several weeks. We will determine when it is safe for you to
resume your normal activities.
What
are the risks?
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved such as
infection or bleeding. However, complications are rare.
Will
there be scarring?
This type of surgery will result in a permanent scar, and based
on how much reshaping is involved, it may be rather lengthy. However,
every effort is made to hide the scars in the bikini area, and they
will fade in time.
How
do I know if abdominoplasty is right for me?
The best candidates for abdominoplasty are those of normal weight
who have weak abdominal muscles and excess skin and fat that have
been unresponsive to diet or exercise. It is not recommended for
women who are planning to become pregnant in the near future. If
you are physically and emotionally healthy, and realistic in your
expectations, this procedure may be right for you. Find out more
