A
more youthful appearance in the blink of an eye
The
eyes are the windows to the soul. They can reflect every feeling
and emotion you feel, contributing a great deal to your facial expressions.
As such, over time, the skin of the eyelids will stretch, muscles
can weaken, and pouches of fat can appear. The drooping eyelids,
undereye bags, and sagging brow that can result from this can add
years to your face and make you appear tired.

"I
have always been self-conscious about my eyes. I was constantly
being asked by friends if I was tired. I was afraid people would
think I was crazy for having surgery at 42, but it was the best
thing I ever did. I feel so much better when I see myself in the
mirror. It improved my overall appearance. With the bags and wrinkles
gone, I look as young as I feel." - R.G.
Drs. Basner & Rosenberg can help you achieve a more youthful, refreshed look
with blepharoplasty or brow lifts.
With
blepharoplasty, we can "open" your eyes by removing excess
fat and skin above and below the eyes, enhance the natural shape
of your eyes, and eliminate the tired look that often accompanies
this problem. However, it cannot remove crow's feet or undereye
circles. It is often performed in conjunction with a brow lift or
face lift.
Brow
lifts
Brow lifts involve the removal of sagging muscles and skin that
cause the forehead to droop. With this procedure, we can reduce
or eliminate forehead furrows and wrinkles for a smoother, younger
look. Brow lifts can also be performed endoscopically, which results
in even smaller incisions, and a faster recovery period.
Below
are some frequently asked questions. These are designed only to
provide you with general information regarding this procedure. We
will provide you with extensive information during your complimentary
consultation. Any further questions or concerns may also be
addressed at that time.
What
will my recovery be like?
You will need to keep your head elevated for the first day or two
following your surgery. Bruising and swelling may occur, which can
be reduced with cold compresses. You may also experience some numbness
or itching. Sutures are removed five to ten days after surgery.
Bandages, if used, are removed within three days. You can generally
return to work within one to two weeks. Blepharoplasty patients
may experience sensitivity to light for several weeks. You should
avoid any strenuous activity for several weeks, as well.
What
are the risks?
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved such as
infection or bleeding. Blepharoplasty patients may experience blurred
vision, asymmetrical healing, or difficulty closing the eyes during
sleep. Browlifts can cause slight nerve damage, inability to move
the eyebrows or forehead, or numbness. However, complications are
rare.
Will
there be scarring?
Incisions made during both types of procedures are done so as to
be as inconspicuous as possible. Blepharoplasty is generally performed
along or below the lash line, where the natural creases lie. Brow
lift incisions are placed behind or along the hairline. It is unusual
to have visible scars in either of these procedures.
How
do I know if this procedure is right for me?
The best candidates for blepharoplasty and brow lifts are those
with sagging eyelids or brows that are the result of age, stress,
or genetics. If you are physically and emotionally healthy, and
realistic in your expectations, this procedure may be right for
you. Find out more by scheduling your complimentary
consultation now.
